The Civil Police seized 580 thousand items involving counterfeit perfumes during an operation this Thursday (14). The activities took place in the city of Sumaré, in the region of Campinas, and in São Paulo city. Four people are being investigated. The action was called Nefertum, which is the name of an Egyptian entity related to perfumes. The work was carried out by agents of the 1st Precinct of the Division of General Investigations (DIG), of the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic). The teams carried out the investigations at five addresses in the Maria Luiza, Maria Antônia, Recanto do Sonhos and Dal’Orto gardens, in the municipality of Sumaré. In addition, searches were carried out in a property in Parque Novo Mundo, in the north of São Paulo. The action was launched with the objective of protecting the population due to the uncontrolled production of substances used in formulas, which can even put the population's health at risk. In all, 580,000 items were found, including adulterated perfumes and packaging. The materials were seized and sent to the Criminalistics Institute (IC), responsible for the expertise. Four people have been qualified and are being investigated for crimes against industrial property and public health.
