The Federal Revenue starts, on the morning of Monday (7), an operation against sale of counterfeit products. The goal is to seize hundreds of tons of irregular goods, with a value that can reach $ 1 billion.
According to the Revenue, the action is the largest ever performed by the agency in combating the sale of illegally products in the country and will be held over the coming weeks.
The operation takes place in the central region of São Paulo, considered one of the main hubs of trade in irregular goods.
In addition to irregular trade, there are also suspected crimes such as money laundering, corruption, slave labour and damage to public health.
The São Paulo City Hall is supporting the action by means of the Metropolitan Civil Guard and teams to remove the goods and inspect the operating conditions of the establishments. Those that are irregular may be interdicted.
Participating in the action are 40 Internal Revenue Service employees, 50 metropolitan civil guards and 90 members of the removal teams of the Subprefectures of Sé and Mooca.
