Military Police seizes van loaded with smuggled items in Horizontina
A squad of the Military Police of Horizontina – 4th CIA, in support of Operation Horus / Agro of the Military Police of Rio Grande do Sul, registered a flagrant crime against the Public Administration, through smuggling of goods (wines), without customs dispatch, and in quantities above the allowed.
The flagrant was found around 11 pm on Arnoldo Schneider street. A van was approached by the Military Police, the driver was identified and a vehicle search was conducted, and several boxes of wine from Argentina were found on the seats.
When checking the trunk, the police found another quantity of the same merchandise of different brands, in a grand total of 727 bottles, which in commercial value reaches around R$ 87,000.00.
The vehicle and the cargo were seized, resulting in a R$ 269,000.00 loss to crime. The van, wines and the driver were taken to the Federal Police in Santo Ângelo, where the crime was registered.
