On the afternoon of Thursday, 17, the Federal Highway Police seized 2,500 bottles of Argentine wine that were being transported in a moving truck. The seizure took place on BR 470, in Bento Gonçalves.
During an inspection and combating crime on the highway, federal highway police officers approached a truck with Bela Vista do Caroba/PR license plate. In searches, police found 500 cases of wine hidden behind a cargo of furniture. In all, approximately 2,500 illegally imported bottles were transported.
According to the prisoners, the cargo was destined for restaurants in Porto Alegre, Caxias do Sul, Canela and Gramado.The driver, a 39-year-old from Paraná, was arrested. The products, valued at 1 million reais, and the truck were seized and sent to the Federal Revenue.
